Crossdress Store Hosts Fall Community Event and Diva Contest

Ontario, Canada (PRWEB) February 4, 2009 -- Canadians are known around the world for their support of diversity and November 2009 will be a great example. The first annual an alluring Affair, an event for the transsexual, transvestite, transgender and cross-dress community, will deliver a rousing, exciting weekend of 'goings-on' tailored to celebrate all that is wonderful about the community.

"We're really excited to be hosting this event," said Nicolle Robinson, owner of Genie, The Crossdress Store. "There are small events in Canada currently, but we wanted to do something that would knock people's socks off. We've arranged some great workshops, but on top of that, the entertainment will inspire and energize everyone."

Located at Deerhurst Resort, a premier resort in the beautiful Muskoka region of Ontario and home to the extravaganza that launched Shania Twain, the event has been designed to be practically all-inclusive.

"For most events in North America, you have to find your own rooms on top of the cost of registering for the event. We've included all the workshops, group meals, entertainment and accommodations, which are gorgeous by the way, in the price," added Ms. Robinson. "Folks will have to arrange their travel to Deerhurst but once they get there they'll be able to have a great time without spending any more money if they choose, other than their alcoholic beverages."

First-class spa facilities are available on-site, she explained, but participants will be responsible for their own spa appointments and the cost of any treatments. An indoor sportsplex is available at no extra charges. Shopping in the quaint town of Huntsville is just a five minute drive away.

"Chef is totally looking forward to having the community at the resort," Ms. Robinson said. "He's excited about developing meals that celebrate our diversity and our interests. I can't wait to see what he creates!"

Workshops will include voice-training, movement classes that include walking gracefully in heels, make-up tips and cooking class with the award-winning chef.

"We're really pleased to also deliver a dance class taught by the amazing performers from the extravaganza," Ms. Robinson added. "The best part is that everyone who participates in the dance class gets to strut their stuff as part of the show Saturday night."

There are limited spaces in the workshops on a first come, first serve basis.

A key element of the event is the 2009 Diva Contest. Entrants can email their performance video, either lip-synching or live performance, for a chance to be crowned Diva 2009.

"Entries opened on February 1st and voting will start May 1st," she explained. "The first round of voting will take place online through the event website and we'll determine five finalists from that. The finalists will be asked to perform at our Friday night welcome dance and paper ballots will be used to determine the winner. The prize pool for the winner is growing, but at this moment the prizes are $500 (CDN) cash and a $100 gift basket of body products from Bare Roots Organics. We're working on getting a trip to award as well."
